Greenlawns’ Art Exhibition 2022 / Art from the Heart
The principal, Ms. Caroline Vaz had this to say about art, “Art enhances fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving skills, lateral thinking, complex analysis and critical thinking skills.”
Greenlawns High School, Warden Road held an Art Exhibition in the Yuletide festive season. It was a kaleidoscope of colours and a feast for the eyes. Meticulously planned and curated by the very aesthetic and creative secondary art teacher, Ms. Nevidita Wadkar and her team of teachers, Ms. Janvi Shah, Mrs. Vidhi Vardhan and Mrs. Yashi Waghele and students. The exhibition was held on two days. Students of Std X displayed their creative, innovative, and awe-inspiring portfolios of still art, shadow art and much more. This is a platform where budding artists and artisans displayed their pieces of art and craft, and exhibited their talent and creativity. The Art for a Cause Club presented as well as sold various Yuletide items like the Christmas trees, snowmen, snowflakes, Santa Clauses, gingerbread men, magnets, coasters and keychains which were colourfully painted and crafted. Paintings, drawings and sketches of students ranging from Classes 5-10 were on display. It was Art from the Heart. The items were sold and the money collected was given for charitable causes. The Art for a Cause Club drives home the point that helping the less fortunate and engaging in the art of giving which is very relevant in the holistic development of children. Many of the articles on display were made from paper and ecofriendly material. Teaching students the importance to care and respect the environment.
At Greenlawns, we want to raise children to be compassionate and empathetic human beings as well as artistic, creative, and out of the box thinkers. The students from various schools came to view this visual treat. They appreciated the efforts of students of the host school and wrote uplifting and upbeat feedback on post-its that expressed what they liked about the exhibition.
The splashes of vibrant hues, different types of paintings and craft articles generated positivity. People left feeling euphoric after the viewing the students’ art work.
“Creativity is intelligence having fun”- Albert Einstein.
Our budding art students, art and craft teachers and enthusiastic exhibition visitors certainly had fun.
“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” At Greenlawns, on this Art exhibition day, art certainly made mundane life more vibrant.
