Commerce Catalyst

Date: 22-09-2023

A dream once seen, has now come true.

The alumni and students of Greenlawns School, Worli hosted the first ever Commerce- based event in Mumbai, Commerce Catalyst, which was held on 22nd September, 2023. The event was not just a showcase of talent, but a platform to cultivate young minds that will shape our future.

Commerce as a subject helps us connect with the broader world.

Commerce Catalyst was an initiative to foster understanding and teamwork. Our goal was to turn Passion into profit and equip students with hands-on knowledge that extends beyond textbooks. Here the students learn to apply theoretical concepts in real-world scenarios, and prepare themselves for the challenges and opportunities of the business world.

We had the following competitions in our event: 1)Pitch and Conquer~ Mastering The Art Of Business [Reel to Real(A part of Pitch and Conquer)] and 2)Capital Clash~ The Stock Market Showdown.

The journey is more enjoyed than the final attainment.

The team of Commerce Catalyst with its President, Harsh Jakkan, had planned for it day and night. However, this could not be achieved without the guidance of our effervescent Principal Dr. Sanjay Roy. The teachers too relentlessly worked with the children to get the best output on the main day.

Our sponsors for the day were, HCC,

WAW Weddings, Arihant Gold Plast, Max Plus, Jems and Jewels, Sunrise Gold, Nirmal Jewellers, Mahavir Jewellers, Ramesh Jewellers, Marit Agarbattis, Planet IT Solutions, Wise Guru Financials, Vinayak Trading Company, 70's Frogurt Hood and Malaki. We were honoured by their support.

The event had begun at 8:00a.m. We had started the day with the auspicious lighting of the lamp.

This was followed by a prayer dance by the senior section of our school.

Then our Principal, Dr. Sanjay Roy, motivated the participants to keep calm and stay positive throughout the competition. He declared the event open.

We began with the Capital Clash, where chaos hit the market. Participants actively participated in buying and selling the stocks based on the news displayed.

Meanwhile, we had Reel to Real going on where the business minds had to market their product with a twist. The twist was that each school was alloted a genre that they had to portray to market their business.

It was really fun to see what our young creators had designed.

During the break, the participating schools were provided with hot and tasty lunches to get ready for the final competition.

Then there was Pitch and Conquer, where our young entrepreneurs shared their outstanding ideas. Then, judges asked them questions based on their product and business, which were answered confidently.

The event came to an end after the most awaited moment of prize distribution.

A day for which we had been planning for months, passed so soon that none of us could realise it.

Surely, Commerce Catalyst has made a mark in the history of Greenlawns School, Worli.
